At the beginning of November, 2019 Huawei announced investment of $10 million into development of mobile applications in Russia. Means will go for encouragement of the Russian developers and owners of software which will become a part of an ecosystem of Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). The details of future investments into the companies are not disclosed.
Huawei Mobile Services offers developers tools for creation of mobile applications and services for testing, promotions and monetizations of applications with elements of artificial intelligence, virtual and augmented reality and machine learning.
By the beginning of November, 2019 in Huawei Mobile Services there are more than 570 million active users a month. The basis of HMS is formed by HMS Core — a set of basic opportunities for developers of mobile applications. In a year the number of the registered developers and the applications created using HMS Core doubled. Over 50 thousand applications are integrated with HMS Core. The leading players of the Russian market of mobile services also work on integration of the platform.
"Russia is among the most important markets for Huawei for this reason we are going to develop actively here our ecosystem" — the executive technical director on software development of Huawei Russian Research Institute Vladimir Rubanov said.
Within the HMS Core platform 24 tools are available to developers, including:
- library of geospatial data (Map Kit);
- payment system (Wallet Kit);
- system of the built-in purchases (In-App Purchase);
- center of games (Game Service);
- system of notifications (Push Kit);
- tools for analytics (Analytics Kit) and monetization of applications (Ads Kit).
Huawei notes that investments into research and development are the cornerstone of the strategy of the company which puts about 10% of revenue in R&D. So, the annual budget in Russia in 2019 rose research and development five times.
